Privacy Policy
App: Video Downloader
Effective date: July 3, 2026
This Privacy Policy applies to Video Downloader, developed and operated by SEANGKRU SRENG under the developer name seangkru. This policy explains how the app accesses, stores, uses, and handles information when users browse websites, save permitted media, manage downloads, play local files, and use the private local vault.
1. App purpose
Video Downloader is a built-in browser, permitted media saver, download manager, local video/audio player, bookmark/history manager, and private local vault. The app is intended for personal offline access where permitted by the website, the content owner, and applicable law.
2. No account required by the app
The app does not require users to create an account with the developer. The app does not provide a developer-operated cloud account, cloud backup, subscription account, or user profile system.
Users may choose to sign in to third-party websites through the built-in browser. Any login, cookies, website account information, or website data are controlled by those third-party websites and by the Android WebView/browser environment, not by a developer-operated account system.
3. Information stored locally on the device
When users use app features, the app may store the following information locally on the user's device:
- Browsing history: page title, URL, visit time, favicon, and related browser display data.
- Bookmarks or saved websites: website name, URL, icon URL, order, and favicon.
- WebView data: cookies, cache, local storage, website session data, and website files created by pages opened in the built-in browser.
- Download metadata: media URL, request headers, title, thumbnail URL, format information, duration, file path, progress state, file size, and download status.
- Downloaded files: video, audio, or media files saved by the user.
- Thumbnail data: generated thumbnails, cached thumbnails, or thumbnail references used to display saved media.
- Private vault data: vault metadata, encrypted vault files, vault thumbnails or placeholders, and temporary decrypted playback cache when needed for local playback.
- App preferences: user settings, first-launch acceptance, permission state, and display preferences.
4. Data collection and sharing by the developer
The app is designed to keep browsing history, bookmarks, download metadata, downloaded files, thumbnails, and private vault files locally on the user's device. The developer does not operate a server for uploading users' browsing history, private vault files, or downloaded media files.
The app may still communicate with third-party websites that users open in the built-in browser and with third-party services or SDKs used by the app, such as advertising services if ads are enabled.
5. Advertising and third-party SDKs
If advertising is enabled in the app, Video Downloader may use Google AdMob or the Google Mobile Ads SDK to display advertisements. Advertising SDKs may collect, process, or share certain data for purposes such as ad delivery, ad measurement, analytics, fraud prevention, security, and service improvement.
Depending on the SDK configuration and the user's device settings, advertising-related data may include:
- IP address or approximate location derived from IP address.
- Advertising ID, device identifiers, or other app/device identifiers.
- App interactions, ad views, ad clicks, and ad performance information.
- Diagnostics, crash information, performance data, and fraud-prevention signals.
Users can control certain advertising settings through Android, Google account, or device privacy settings. Advertising SDK data practices must be disclosed accurately in the Google Play Data Safety section.
6. Permissions used by the app
The app may request permissions only when needed for app functionality. Depending on Android version, device settings, and enabled features, the app may request or use:
| Permission or access | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Internet access | Open websites in the built-in browser, load page resources, detect permitted media, and display ads if enabled. |
| Network state | Check connectivity and manage browser/download behavior. |
| Media/video/image access | Save, display, play, manage, move, or delete media selected or downloaded by the user. |
| Storage access where applicable | Save downloads, access user-selected files, create thumbnails, and manage local files. |
| Notifications where applicable | Show download progress, completion status, or other user-requested app notifications. |
| Foreground service where applicable | Keep user-initiated downloads running and visible when required by Android behavior. |
If a permission is denied, some features may not work, such as saving downloads, showing thumbnails, playing selected files, or moving files to and from the private vault. The app should continue to provide limited functionality where possible.
7. Private vault
The private vault is a local device feature. When users move files into the private vault, files may be moved into app-controlled storage and stored in encrypted form. The app may temporarily decrypt a file into local cache only for playback, then remove the temporary playback cache when appropriate.
Vault files are not uploaded by the developer. Users are responsible for the legality and appropriateness of all files they store in the private vault.
8. Third-party websites opened in the browser
The built-in browser can open third-party websites. These websites may use their own cookies, trackers, scripts, login systems, analytics, ads, and privacy practices. Video Downloader does not control third-party websites and is not responsible for their content, availability, policies, or data practices.
Users should review each third-party website's own privacy policy and terms before using that website or saving any content from it.
9. User controls
Depending on the app version and Android device behavior, users may be able to:
- Clear browsing history.
- Delete bookmarks or saved websites.
- Delete downloaded files.
- Delete generated thumbnails or clear app cache.
- Delete files from the private vault.
- Move files out of the private vault.
- Clear WebView cookies/cache if the app provides this option.
- Clear all app data through Android system settings.
- Uninstall the app to remove app-controlled local data.
10. Data retention
Locally stored app data remains on the user's device until the user deletes it, clears app data, uninstalls the app, or uses available in-app deletion controls. Third-party websites and SDKs may have their own retention rules.
11. Security
The app uses reasonable local storage practices for app features such as downloads and the private vault. However, no mobile app, local storage system, encryption method, device, or internet transmission is completely secure. Users should keep their device locked, updated, and protected.
12. Children's privacy
The app is not directed to children. Users should not use the app to access, save, store, or share illegal, harmful, age-restricted, or unauthorized content.
13. International users
Users are responsible for complying with the laws and website terms that apply in their location. App availability in a country does not mean that every website or every type of media saving is lawful or permitted in that country.
14. Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the app after an update means the user accepts the updated policy.
